Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer FortJaisalmer in Rajasthan is popularly known as the 'Golden City' because of its honey colour. The city houses grand forts and palaces, sloppy sand dunes and exquisite havelis that look even more beautiful in the light of the setting sun. The city seems to come out straight from the tales of the Arabian Nights.

Over the years, Jaisalmer has become quite popular amongst the tourists world over. The city boasts of the famous Jaisalmer Fort which is a great crowd puller. Havelis of Jaisalmer are also a must-visit during your holiday here. The exquisite Jain temples add to the golden aroma that fills Jaisalmer. Apart from the architectural wonders, handicrafts including woven jackets, ornaments and embroidered footwear also known as Jooties are also notable. With the increase in number of tourists from India and abroad to this place, the number of hotels, safaris and markets has also gone up significantly. There is nothing better than a visit to Jaisalmer if a tourist wants to spend some memorable moments within the mountain high sand dunes in Rajasthan.
